09.54 am – Went to Kedai Kopi Seng Thor for

this stall’s

lor mee.

10.11 am – Noticed a crowd buying from a kuih stall next to the coffee shop.

I bought myself one of each. Sesame seed balls,

kuih melayu,

tau sar piah,

hong kong new year cake,

or kuih,

kuih koci.

10.18 pm – Went to Thye Huat hardware store and bought myself 2 stuff.

A wireless door bell and

a blower ball for cleaning motherboards, graphic cards and all the other electronic parts of the computer. Was actually looking for a can of compressed air but too bad they don’t have it. Hard to find in Penang.

11.10 am – Went to Kim Soon Auto Repair to get PCJ’s

engine oil changed.

Filled it up with 4 liters of Castrol’s 20W-50 that cost RM40.

Service charge.

12.05 pm – Went home and installed Ousun’s wireless door chime.

01.18 pm – Went to City Bayview’s Kopi Tiam for lunch.

One of the vouchers I won from the photgraphy competition a while back.

The salad.

The mushroom soup.

The very nice fried szechuan chicken rice.

Vinny had fish and chips.

Fruits.

Ice cream.

Coffee.

02.29 pm – Took Vinny’s eye growth to see Dr Khoo.

We arrived not long after he returned from lunch break.

02.59 pm – Started making glutinous rice balls. Took out granny’s food colouring liquid,

the bottle of sugar and

water.

Poured a cup of glutinous rice flour.

Poured about 1 tablespoonful of sugar.

Poured some water.

Started mixing it into a doughy texture.

Split it into half.

One to be coloured red and yellow.

The red dye.

Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.

Ta da. Orange.

Took a pandan leaf from

the pandan plant in my backyard.

Used it to make the sugar water smell nicer.

Round 1. Ready for boiling.

boil tangyuan

Dropped all of it into another separate pot of boiling water.

You’ll know it’s ready for harvesting when it floats.

Round 2. Start.

Round 2. Done.

Round 3. Done.

Dog paw tang yuen.

We used about 2 cups of glutinous flour which came up to about 8 servings.

04.39 pm – Afternoon break.

Ate the kuihs bought in the morning.

10.00 pm – Went to Kayu for dinner.

Nasi kandar.

11.41 pm – Inglorious Basterds. 8/10.

Day 3 Langkawi Trip : Breakfast Bar, Island Hopping, Pulau Dayang Bunting, Eagle Watching, Pulau Beras Basah, Haroo Bistro, Langkawi International Airport

07.49 am – Ended back at Breakfast Bar as Champur Champur was closed during the Ramadhan perion.

Today, we sat at the hut.

My nasi lemak and Nescafe.

Dragon fruits for dessert.

Today’s special.

08.20 am – Overspent buying duty free stuff during the 2nd day.

No choice but to withraw

more money.

09.16 am – Went to Teluk Baru/Dalam jetty for the island hopping trip.

The boats.

Managed to get the price of RM25 per person from Hanif the taxi driver of Day 1. Call Harun at 0124078370 to arrange if you ever go. Others will charge you RM35/RM40 for the same thing. So, why not?

Our boat captain for the day.

The edge of the jetty from the boat.

Loved the boat ride.

09.47 am – 1st Stop. Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park.

A lil hiking before reaching

the floating platform of

the Lake of The Pregnant Maiden / Tasik Dayang Bunting.

The solar powered boats.

The changing rooms.

The edge separating the sea from the lake.

Had some fun playing with catfish (brought our own bread) before

the damn monkeys came.

As there was still a lot of time, we decided to rent ourselves a solar powered boat. Was surprised when the person behind the counter, who kept insisting that we rent the solar boat, pushed the price down to RM20 for a solar boat (jackets included) when we sounded more keen to rent a pure paddle boat.

Solar boat it was.

Captain Vivian Tan was having fun paddling her way around the lake.

10.58 am – And then we left the jetty and headed to the part where you can see the silhouette of the pregnant maiden. Why can’t it be Pulau Awek Gemuk?

11.05 am – Next stop, eagle watching.

11.20 am – Hung around for 10 minutes before docking at Pulau Beras Basah.

I wanted to pee but there was no such thing as a toilet in Pulau Beras Basah. Funny right? Anyways I made my way to the back of the hut fronting the beach

into the bushes where I offloaded myself.

The exact spot.

There was nothing much you could do except enjoy the scenery,

clear blue waters,

and take pictures.

12.54 pm – It was almost 1pm when we reached the jetty.

Our souvenirs.

01.02 pm – We wanted to try T-Jay’s Italian Restaurant but too bad

it was closed.

We were hungry as hell at the time and couldn’t care less where we ate so we just hopped into the next open restaurant which was Haroo Bistro.

The menu A.

The menu B.

We were lucky to have had an air conditioned empty room all to ourselves.

Fish and chips.

Chicken BBQ set.

03.59 pm – Caught Marc in the midst of cleaning the grounds of Pondok Keladi.

Spot the squirrel.

Had grapes at the common area and

spent some time chatting with Marc about his life, about how he ended up at Pondok Keladi and about how he loves the cheapness of liquor and ciggys in Langkawi compared to the British pound.

06.09 pm – Arrived at the departure hall of Langkawi International Airport.

Checking in at the counter.

The boarding pass.

The interior.

The row of check in counters.

Our plane arrived earlier than expected.

Well done, Firefly!

07.01 pm – Bye bye Langkawi. It’d be years before my next trip back here.

08.00 pm – Got picked up by Dad and went for dinner at one of the most delicious nasi kandar chain restaurant in Penang.

~yum~

09.08 pm – Started unpacking.

09.36 pm – The amount of images taken were literally in the thousands!

12.00 am – zzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

How I Spent The First Day Of Chinese New Year 2009

09.30 am – Woke up, showered, put on my new clothes, went down and saw breakfast, consisting of rice vermicelli,

left over soup from yesterday and

glutinous rice balls for dessert.

This is usually what I have for breakfast for every first day of Chinese New Year.

Got my first red packet 😈

Played with Py for awhile before leaving to my first destination.

10.00 am – Went to the Oldest Methodist Church in Penang for their Chinese New Year morning service.

Something which I have been doing since Mom started going there a few years ago.

How the leaflet given to everyone that arrives at their doorstep looks like.

The mini envelope for you to put in money, known as “offering”.

No.20 is the program that I look forward to most.

As usual, we arrived late, so we had to sit at another hall away from the main, following the events of the service through the projected video.

11.30 am – As soon as service ended, (yay!), we visited Dad’s godsister who lived somewhere nearby.

Had a box of chrysanthemum white tea

and cookies.

Collected 3 red packets at one sitting 😈

12.00 pm – Next, we went to visit granny’s brother at Seri Kota.

As he lived on the 10th floor,

the view was pretty good

from all 3 angles.

Ate more cookies and desserts before leaving to

01.00 pm – visit my granddad’s sister.

And we ate her homemade red beans and

longans and

cookies and sweets.

Collected 3 ang pows again in 1 sitting 😈

02.00 pm – Went over to Jalan Besi to visit granny’s sister.

Ate again.

Collected 2 ang paus.

03.00 pm – And then we went over to granny’s brother’s place located somewhere deep in Tanjung Bungah. Ate some homemade pies.

Collected 1 ang pau.

05.30 pm – Took a nap. The day was so tiring.

08.00 pm – Went over to Ang’s Kayu Nasi Kandar for dinner.

Business was good as you could see many Chinese fellas eating there cause you can hardly find a Chinese stall open on the first day of CNY.

~yum

11.00 pm – Fighting starts.

The losers.

03.30 am – Went over to Khaleel for supper.

Curly noodles tomyam.

04.30 am – zzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

10.30 am – Went over to Terengganu Road’s wet market

for breakfast.

Went over to the food section and ordered a bowl of hokkien mee.

Nice shot. Thanks Vinny.

Explosive stuff, dude! It’s damn delicious!

11.00 am – Watched Prison Break s04e08.

12.00 pm – Watched Gossip Girl s02e07.

02.00 pm – Went over to Peng Yang for chicken rice.

The most divine chicken rice chilli in the world.

The spicy kiam chai boey.

Heaven.

06.30 pm – Jogged.

Passed through Lebuh Batu maung 1/2,

Lebuh Batu Maung 8,

Lebuh Batu maung 11 and

Lebuh Batu Maung 10.

08.00 pm – Went over to Kayu for dinner plus watched Man U’s match.

Pricey but tasty.

Was with this fella

and this fella.

11.30 am – Clubbing at MOIS.

Nice shot, Joline. Thanks! Geoffrey ni nak act cute. Mana tau Anthony lagi cute. Macam budak sekolah main hide-n-seek.

Another nice shot. Looks natural.

The Friday I Went For Carlsberg’s Gold Party In Upper Penang Road

10.30 am – Woke up to a dry tap. rawr!

Packed me clothes and toiletries.

11.00 am – Showered at uncle’s place.

Saw the PBA van at a distance.

12.00 pm – Lunched with buddies.

Sangat sedap, sangat murah, Mak Long, mana boleh salah?

02.30 pm – Updated famouschris.

04.00 pm – Siesta time!

06.00 pm – Siesta-ed for 2 hours. Awesome!

06.30 pm – Kayu-ed with

Sarjan Chin yg teramat sangat menyintai negaranya. Malaysia terharu dengan perbuatanmu.

07.30 pm – Surfed around.

Practiced me guitar. Lesson resumes this Sunday.

08.30 pm – Showered.

09.00 pm – Left for UPR.

Was drizzling. Waited for the rest in the car before leaving together.

09.30 pm – Started off in Tiger Arms.

The much publicized GOLD party in Upper Penang Road was boring and dull. The emptiness of the crowd in UPR in the 2 pictures below is enough to prove the kecacatan of the event organizer.

Carlsberg, if I had organized the event, I would have AT LEAST a few hot girls in shapely, eye grabbing wear walking around having passers by buy your kononly new Gold beer through coupons that entitles them to a chance of winning something simple like a bucket or smth & a lucky draw for holidays around Asia rather than spending the money on billboard advertising somewhere in the region of 6 figures around the entire Penang Island!

11.00 pm – MOIS.

Was greeted by 2 magicians having a time of their life impressing chicks around them early on in the night.

John, Keong, Daryl, Geography.

Please. Do. Not. Kiss. Me.

Please. Control. Yourself.

(Removed by request)

Alcoholics.

03.00 am – Checked out the new F.A.M.E club in Upper Penang Road.

Kat atas.

Kat bawah. ~fuh. I like the bar design. Very central.

03.30 am – Ganja.

On my left.

On my right.

Anthony’s buddy.

04.00 am – Showered.

04.30 am – Uploaded photos. Surfed around.

05.00 am – zzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz
